Spring into Spring: A Local's Guide to Toronto in Springtime

Despite the rather unpredictable weather we've been having, the forecast is finally calling for warmer days! The city is livening up from its winter slumber, as days begin to get longer.  The city is beginning to bustle once again with life and activity.  There are countless activities, culinary events, and festivals available, so why not check them out?! We've even done the research for you!

 Artfest Toronto at the Distillery   May 19-21st, 11am to 6pm, Distillery Historic District   This lively and free event is an outdoor arts & craft show, taking place in the picturesque Distillery Historic District.  The festival celebrates all kinds of Canadian art that spectators can enjoy, from painting, to photography, to sculpture, to live music!

 Bluffers Park & Beach   Year long, 1 Brimley Rd South   While open yearlong, Bluffer's Park does not have adequate winter maintenance, so once the snow melts and the weather warms, this area becomes a haven for the city's nature lovers.  The Scarborough Bluffs were formed more than 12,000 years ago from the Wisconsin Glacier, resulting in some of the most naturally beautiful and intriguing landscapes in the city today.  The park offers a variety of trails, and even a beach for visitors.  While Bluffer's Park is somewhat removed from from central hubs in the city, the marina in the park has a restaurant and bar that guests can visit!

In the city's far east-end lies this two kilo-meter trail, and hub of wildlife.  Being the longest of the rouge valley trails, this trail passes through various ecosystems, from marsh to forested areas, to wetlands, allowing for visitors to experience a variety of different flora and fauna.

 Kensington Market Art Fair   May 29th, 12-7pm, Kensington Market   Kensington Market is known for its for its bohemian vibe, being a hub for the artistic type.  It is already home to various galleries, and unique architecture and graffiti. This art fair celebrates this diversity of art, featuring all kinds of artwork from local professionals and students alike.  Working in partnership with the neighbourhoods Business Improvement Association, and  Pedestrian Sundays, this fair is full of life!

 Pedestrian Sundays at Kensington Market   Beginning May 27th, last Sunday of each month until October 28th, 12-7pm   From May until October, Kensington Market is transformed into a pedestrian haven on the last Sunday of each month.  The trendy neighbourhood attracts thousands of visitors, as various artists, musicians, food vendors, and artisan markets take to the streets.

 Spring into Parkdale Sidewalk Festival   May 12th, 11am to 6pm, Queen St West (Between Dufferin St and Roncesvalles Ave)   On Saturday, May 9th, Parkdale Village is transformed into a pedestrians haven.    Queen Street West, between Dufferin St and Roncesvalles Ave, is shut down to traffic and becomes a sidewalk festival featuring various local vendors, food stations, buskers and live music.

This is a  nonprofit organization that provides food services in the city.
